NEWS: Madiba Heads To His Final Resting Place

The State funeral service of former President Nelson Mandela has ended in the specially erected marquee on his family home in Qunu in the Eastern Cape. Madiba coffin will now be taken to his final resting place.

The world is not expected to witness former president Nelson Mandela's coffin being lowered into his grave at his rural home in Qunu in the Eastern Cape.

The Defence Force will sound the Last Post and the Reveille and then wuthdraw.

Mandela's actual burial will be a private affair. Only up to 450 mourners, including members of the Mandela house, Madiba clan, Thembu kingdom, close friends and select dignitaries will be allowed at his grave site, where his parents and children have been reburied.

It is unclear who will conduct the Thembu burial ceremony, including certain rituals.

In his sermon, Bishop Ziphozihle Siwa says we should take up a life of selflessness as Madiba did in his speech at the official state funeral.

"We will always cherish the life you shared with this nation," he adds.

"Thank you for the trust you have placed in me. The responsibility was tremendous. It was an honour to serve you Tata. I bid you farewell," says Mandela family friend, Bantu Holomisa.

He says that the Madiba song may have ended but its melody lingers on and we must make sure it never ends.

He has thanked Mandela's medical team for looking after him and for all the support that has been bestowed upon the family.

He has also thanked the African National Congress (ANC) for its role in the country and says their efforts will never be forgotten.

Nelson Mandela Is Dead @95

Former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela died in his home in Johannesburg. The former South African leader has been ill for a long time and was discharged from a Pretoria hospital in September after spending seven months where he was been treated for Lung infection.

President Zuma who announced the death of Madiba had this to say...
“Nelson Mandela, 95, passed away at his home a short while ago. While the late President’s health had been in steady decline for a number of years, it is still difficult to come to terms with the fact that he is no longer with us.
“It is impossible to put into words the impact that Mandela has had on the world. He showed that peaceful resistance, even in the midst of the most terrible circumstances one could possibly imagine, is and should be possible. He could have been bitter and call for retaliation against his and his peoples oppressors, but he insisted on a government of inclusion and reconciliation. Somehow, some way, he succeeded in bringing his people along with him.
“The world lost a giant today. One of those few people that is bigger than life and he will be remembered for many years to come. May he rest in peace.”
May his soul RIP!!!
