#2014FIFAWORLDCUP: Argentina 2 - 1 Bosnia-Herzegovina

Lionel Messi scored a stunning goal as Argentina got their World Cup campaign off to a winning start with a narrow victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina at the Maracana Stadium.
The Barcelona forward was involved early on as his free kick was not cleared by the Golden Lilies defence and Sead Kolasinac diverted the ball into his own net to give the South Americans a second-minute lead.
However, the tournament newcomers refused to buckle, despite falling behind, and nearly got back on terms when Izet Hajrovic controlled a floated pass, but keeper Sergio Romero made sure that the attack was thwarted.
Argentina tried to inject pace into their game and almost increased their lead when Javier Mascherano's long-range effort needed to be punched away by Bosnia keeper Asmir Begovic.
However, they were nearly pegged back on the stroke of half-time when Senad Lulic's header was well-saved by Romero.
The South Americans started the second half far better and nearly found a second goal when Messi created a chance for strike partner Sergio Aguero, but the Manchester City forward produced a poor effort that didn't trouble Begovic.
Argentina soon doubled their advantage when Messi picked the ball on the right-hand side and dribbled past two defenders before firing a 20-yard shot in off the post.
The two-time World champions had looked comfortable for much of the second half, but were left on edge with six minutes remaining when Vedad Ibisevic snuck his effort past the onrushing Romero from close-range to give Bosnia hope of a comeback.
However, Argentina were able to hold on for a win and will hope to all but seal a place in the second round with victory over Iran on Saturday.
